By Scott Colletti, The Paver Sealer Store

Reclaimed-water irrigation can repeatedly wet the same paver edges and leave a localized maintenance pattern. A sealing plan should document that exposure and correct avoidable overspray before judging the finish.

Map wetting rather than guessing from stains

Observe an irrigation cycle when permitted and note overspray, leaks and runoff. Identify the actual supply and ask the system provider about its characteristics. A stain beside a sprinkler may involve water deposits, fertilizer, soil or organic material. Do not assign a cause solely from proximity.

Coordinate restart with the product requirements

During a coating project, prevent automatic cycles from wetting the work unexpectedly. Confirm the restart interval against the exact product directions and site conditions. A product that tolerates a specified damp-application workflow does not automatically permit fresh-film irrigation exposure. Separate application moisture requirements from post-application cure requirements.

Set realistic maintenance expectations

Inspect repeated spray footprints and clean them using compatible methods. Adjust the system through a qualified irrigation provider where overspray can be reduced. Sealer may change stain resistance, but it cannot remove dissolved material from the supply or prevent deposits where water repeatedly evaporates.

Before you proceed

  • Document the source and wetting pattern.
  • Resolve leaks and overspray before sealing.
  • Confirm the irrigation restart window for the specific coating.

Will sealing permanently eliminate irrigation marks?

No. Repeated water exposure and deposits still require drainage, system control and appropriate cleaning.

Connect this decision to the sealing system

Review the related planning guide before selecting a treatment. For film-forming options, compare UltraGloss SX and Ultra Seal Classic Gloss against the actual substrate, preparation and exposure. Product selection does not resolve structural, equipment or drainage problems. Use the Sealer Finder as a starting point, then confirm the current label, technical data and SDS.
