Lot numbers help connect the material used on a job to its supply and production record. They are especially useful when a project spans multiple deliveries or a finish question appears later. Recording them takes little time and reduces guesswork.

Record containers before application

Photograph readable labels and lot identifiers when material arrives. Note product name, package size, delivery date and storage condition. Keep the records with the job’s measured area and application notes. A receipt stating only “sealer” is less useful than an exact product and lot record.

Plan boundaries for multiple deliveries

If the job uses different lots, identify where each will be applied and ask the supplier whether any additional consistency check is recommended. Do not assume separate lots must be blended, particularly when components or mixing instructions are involved. Follow the product-specific procedure and compare representative samples if appearance consistency is important.

Use the record when troubleshooting

Match any concern to location, container, application timing and site conditions. A finish difference does not prove a lot defect; porosity, weather, prep and application can also vary. Clear records let the supplier ask focused questions and compare the affected area with another section instead of speculating from one photograph.

Before you proceed

  • Photograph product labels and lot numbers on receipt.
  • Record where material from each delivery was applied.
  • Keep site conditions and application notes with the lot record.

Does a different lot number mean the finish will differ?

It is a traceability identifier, not proof of an appearance problem. Verify consistency using supplier guidance and representative conditions.

Connect this decision to the sealing system

Review the related planning guide before selecting a treatment. For film-forming options, compare UltraGloss SX and Ultra Seal Classic Gloss against the actual substrate, preparation and exposure. Product selection does not resolve structural, equipment or drainage problems. Use the Sealer Finder as a starting point, then confirm the current label, technical data and SDS.
